Help With PDF Files
The War Amps Web site provides some documents in Portable Document Format (PDF). To view or print PDF files, you will need Acrobat Reader. If you don't already have Acrobat Reader, the link below will allow you to obtain this software free of charge.
PDF Pages Are Hard to Read
If you are viewing a PDF file on screen and the text or images are hard to read or are not clear, please try the following to improve viewing and print quality:
In Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0:
- Open Adobe Acrobat (without viewing a document)
- Click on Edit ==> Preferences ==> Page Display
- Check the "Smooth Text" box
- Check the "Smooth Line Art" box
- Check the "Smooth Images" box
- Click "OK" and exit Acrobat
PDF Pages Don't Appear in Web Browser Window
On some computer systems, there are compatibility issues between the Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Internet Explorer. In certain instances, PDF files are unreadable (or only partially readable) when viewed directly in the Internet Explorer Web browser. Taking the following steps may prevent this situation from occurring:
In Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0:
- Open Adobe Acrobat (without viewing a document)
- Click on Edit ==> Preferences ==> Internet
- Un-check the "Display PDF in Browser" box
- Click "OK" and exit Acrobat
When you click on a PDF document link in the Web browser, you will be asked whether you wish to open the document or save the document. Select "Open" to view the PDF at that time.
Additional information on viewing and working with PDF files can be found on Adobe's Web site. If you are still having problems viewing or printing documents from The War Amps Web site, please contact the Webmaster.
