The CHAMP Program
Created in 1975, the CHild AMPutee (CHAMP) Program is built on the Winner’s Circle philosophy which encourages child amputees (Champs) to accept their amputations and develop a positive approach to challenges.
The CHAMP Program, which offers comprehensive services to child amputees and their families, is unique in the world. These services provide financial assistance for artificial limbs and various recreational devices as well as emotional support through programs such as Matching Mothers, Seminars and Junior Counselling. Access to a wealth of information resources is also available.
To be enrolled in the CHAMP Program, children must be under the age of 18, born missing a limb or limbs or have lost a limb due to an accident or medical causes. Enrolment is restricted to child amputees in Canada. Children with multiple amputations may qualify for enrolment in JUMPSTART. For those 18 and over, please contact The War Amps Adult Prosthetics Program by calling 1 877 622-2472 or e-mail nac@waramps.ca.
When Champs turn 18 years of age and choose to further their education, additional financial assistance may be provided through our CHAMP Development Program.
For more information please contact the CHAMP Program by calling 1 800 267-4023 or e-mail champ@waramps.ca.
“Growing up as an amputee in this world would not have been the same without the
CHAMP Program. It has given me the confidence I need to approach the real world
with a vision of success, and nothing but success.”... more > > >
