Annae sees herself as ordinary. But how she lives her life is very original. Born with no arms, she invents her own way of doing things.
As the documentary follows her through her daily routine, Annae talks about her personal road to independence. With candour and humour, she describes the challenges along the way and the steps that have helped ease the path.
Annae's parents have been a major influence on her life. For them, raising an amputee child meant adopting a unique set of parenting skills to ensure that their daughter would be able to make her own way in life. They reminisce about the trials and tribulations, and the profound joy, of watching her grow up on her own terms.
Annae credits The War Amps for developing her self confidence. When she was just a young girl, she attended her first CHAMP Seminar. There, she met other amputees and realized she was not alone. TEEN TALK was a chance to discuss issues with her peers like relationships, body image, job hunting and driving. JUMPSTART provided her with her first computer - a great equalizer in terms of employment opportunities as she made her way from school to a professional career.
Annae's Journey is a portrait of a young woman who has embraced life, love and happiness - in her own "not so ordinary" way.
"I feel really blessed to have had this disability and for the things that I've learned from it. It would be very selfish of me not to share that with other people." Annae
