The War Amps believes that no one is better qualified to convey the PLAYSAFE message than youngsters in the CHAMP Program for child amputees who have lost limbs in accidents while at play. Through videos, presentations, parades, and public service messages, Champs become Safety Ambassadors and warn other children: "Spot the danger before you play!"
Also, Champs who have lost limbs in motor vehicle accidents are helping The War Amps convey an important message for drivers – DRIVESAFE!
This DVD features a variety of award-winning productions highlighting our PLAYSAFE and DRIVESAFE Programs.
Disc 1
Spot the Danger!: (27:30) ASTAR, The War Amps safety symbol, introduces 14 Champs who explain how a few seconds of fun in the wrong place changed their lives forever.
The Ambassador Series: (2:00) Profiles featuring young Champs who spread the PLAYSAFE message on board The War Amps PLAYSAFE floats in their local parades.
Max says PLAYSAFE: (3:00) Max tells how he lost his foot in a lawnmower accident. He leads the neighbourhood children on a SAFETY WALK to show them how to spot the dangers before they play.
DRIVESAFE!: (2:50) In this animated video, an endearing CHAMP character named Fleetwood tells the story of a young girl who loses her arm in a car accident.
PLAYSAFE/DRIVESAFE Messages: Several 30-second public service message, including ASTAR, the well known safety symbol, and the popular CFL PLAYSAFE Award.
Disc 2
This disc features short profiles about the history of The War Amps and individual stories of Champs who are examples of The War Amps Winner’s Circle.
