Donating to The War Amps
Can I direct my donation towards a specific program?
Yes. When preparing your donation, simply indicate the name of the program you wish to support, such as CHAMP, JUMPSTART, PLAYSAFE or Matching Mothers.
Can I direct my donation towards a specific person or family?
Yes. Please note, however, that a charity may not issue a receipt if the donor has directed the funds to a specified person or family. For more information on this guideline, please read the Canada Revenue Agency's Interpretation Bulletin IT-110R3.
What is my donation used for?
Your donation will be used to fund the various programs and services we operate. For additional information on the work we do and how our funds are distributed, you may request an information package and/or our Essential Financial Information by e-mailing customerservice@waramps.ca or calling 1 800 250-3030.
Can I make a monthly gift?
Yes. Monthly gifts are easy to make. You can download our printable PDF and send it by mail or fax, or call 1 800 250-3030.
On what date are monthly gifts processed?
Monthly gifts are processed on the 1st day of each month.
What are the benefits of monthly giving?
Monthly donations help reduce administrative costs and provide a continuous and reliable source of funding to support the needs of amputees across Canada.
Who should I contact to make changes to my monthly gift?
You can make changes to your monthly donation at any time simply by calling us at 1 800 250-3030, or e-mailing customerservice@waramps.ca.
Can I make a donation using online or telephone banking?
Yes. A donation can be made through all major chartered banks and trust companies. Please use your current key tag number as your “War Amps account number.”
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes. Please read our privacy policy. We would like to assure you that we do not and will not divulge the names and addresses or e-mail information of our donors to organizations or individuals for any reason.

What is Planned Giving?
There are many ways to plan a donation to The War Amps. In addition to Bequests, ou can leave a gift through Life Insurance Policies, Endowments and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
What is a Bequest?
In making a will, you exercise your right to choose what to do with your accumulations of a lifetime. Leaving a bequest to a charity creates a lasting memorial to your values and achievements. Bequests also offer many practical benefits. For one, you retain full control of the gift for the duration of your life. You will find that bequests are eligible for tax credits and can considerably reduce the amount of taxes paid on an estate after death. Donation receipts are issued for the amount of the bequest and this usually results in a tax credit on your final income tax return.
What is an In Memoriam Donation?
Donors, during periods of bereavement, often wish to donate to The War Amps in memory of loved ones. Secure and confidential In Memoriam donations can be made through this site. The War Amps will send the bereaved family a special card acknowledging your donations. The card identifies the donor and provides the donor's address but does not identify the amount given. A receipt is issued to the donor for income tax purposes.
What is an In Honour Donation?
In Honour donations are meaningful ways to celebrate the special occasions or special people in your life. The most common in honour donations are made on occasions such as 50th wedding anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, or other major milestone events in an individual's life. Donations can be made for any reason, to honour someone who has made an impact on your life.
The War Amps will send the honoree a card acknowledging your donation.
Can I see your financial information?
Yes. Every year The War Amps produces an audited Essential Financial Information sheet. A printed copy may be requested by calling 1 800 250-3030 or e-mailing customerservice@waramps.ca.
What percentage of funds is used towards your programs?
Our administration costs are maintained at ten percent of revenues, and are constantly monitored to ensure that they are kept to the minimum practical level.
