Testimonials

Letters we have received from War Amps supporters:

"My husband and I would like to take this opportunity to thank The War Amps for the return of our key. We had lost it the weekend of my father's 80th birthday. We looked for the key, but with the snow everywhere, we gave up. I will tell you that over the years we wondered if the Key Tag Service really worked. We have been sending you money every year for key tags and never lost our keys.

After receiving your letter in the mail and getting our key back, we have been telling everyone that the Key Tag Service really does work. We picked up our key in town, and yes we have sent money for the service for this year. Thanks again from two very satisfied customers. Keep up the good work!"

"Several months ago, I pulled into a parking space in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia, got out and went into my bank. Upon returning to my car, I discovered that I had managed to lose my keys. I retraced my steps a dozen times and could not find them. I even called the bank the next day to see if a Good Samaritan had turned them in. No luck.

I was lost. On that key ring, was my automatic car starter, my ignition, house and office keys… all the keys I needed. There was no identification on the key ring (deliberately) so I was not worried about someone using them to gain access to my home, but I was nonetheless upset.

The only other thing on the key ring, was a tiny plastic 2002 War Amps Key Tag. I have been supporting The War Amps for years, and just automatically replaced the tag each year, but never gave it another thought. Meanwhile, I had replacements cut for all my keys, and grumbled about the loss of my car starter on these very cold mornings.

Then, last week, I came home from work to discover a courier envelope in my mailbox. My shock was almost comical when my key ring - full intact - slid out. Someone did find them and knew what to do. There is tremendous peace of mind knowing that the keys are back in my possession.

Please be assured that I will send my 2003 donation when this year's key tags arrive, and I have told anyone within hearing that The War Amps Key Tag Service really works. You have my greatest thanks and lifelong support!"

"We were extremely pleased to have our house and car keys returned to us by your wonderful organization, especially since the last record you have of us is at our old address. The new owners of our old house kindly phoned us to let us know that a courier had delivered a parcel in our name.

I had inadvertently not renewed our tag last year due to a very hectic house move, so the return of the keys was doubly appreciated. I will certainly not let our membership lapse again."

"I am ten years old and one day I lost my keys and about a week after, on a day when I was home sick, a package arrived with my mom's name on it. We thought it was from one of my relatives in Ontario, but when we opened it, I was overjoyed because it was my keys! Just the thought of some nice person with the help of all of you, getting the keys back where they belong is so good! That's why I want to give you a donation. Keep up the good work and I just wanted to let you know that I think you are doing a great thing for everybody and could you please send me a key tag, because the one I have is not up-to-date."

"Several weeks ago, I lost a set of keys. I had pretty much given up ever finding them again. They included my office desk key, a computer key and most importantly, a safety deposit box key. I had not yet notified the bank of the loss of the box key and I know they wouldn't be too happy.

This is how I think I lost them... I had purchased a new purse from a local department store. I used it for a day and realized it would not do. I returned the purse to the store and was given a refund. It was a day or so later when I realized the keys were missing. After checking every possible location, I surmised that I had left them in the returned purse! I checked with the lost and found at the store several time, but no luck.

Imagine my surprise and relief to find this set of keys in a courier envelope at my door this past week. I am so glad that I have been putting the tag onto my keys these last few years and I will continue to do so.

Please accept the enclosed donation as a thank-you and to help you to continue the Key Tag Service and the services for Canadian amputees. Gratefully"

"What a pleasant surprise I received today when a courier delivered my lost car keys. I really had given them up and thought they were gone for good.

This is the second time my keys have been returned because of using The War Amps key tag. I am very grateful and would like to say a very sincere thank you.

The automatic door opener was too expensive for me to replace so it's an added benefit to have it back again.

Thank you so very much for all the good work that you do. I know that returning keys is only a small part of the wonderful things that you undertake. I will send a donation separately."
