War Amps Request for Clarification Regarding 'Same-Sex' Marriage Benefits for Veterans Living Together
A statement by Cliff Chadderton, Chief Executive Officer of The War Amps, was released today in response to a small number of complaints from the gay community to the effect that The War Amps organization was being critical of the 'same-sex' marriage proposals.
"Nothing could be further from the truth," Chadderton stated. "In our letter to Veterans Affairs Minister Albina Guarnieri, we made no reference whatsoever which was critical of the Federal Government's 'same-sex' marriage legislation."
In reply to one specific case, Chadderton stated:
You mentioned refusal to provide further financial support for our programs. It seems rather a shame that young child amputees would be denied benefits based on a policy I outlined to the media. Should you wish to advise me of the amount of money involved in your withdrawal of support I would be more than pleased to make a donation from my family's personal trust fund, in lieu of your support.
Also to accuse The War Amps of taking sides has been labeled as an insult to those who were severely wounded in World War II.
