Remembrance Project
Operation Legacy members were very busy during Remembrance Month (October 11 to November 11). Here are some highlights of the activities members were involved in!
Letters to the Editor
Members of Operation Legacy wrote Letters to the Editor to highlight the re-release of The War Amps Canada's Military Heritage Series First World War documentaries (In Flanders Fields,The Blue Puttees, No Man's Land, A Vimy Veteran Remembers and If Ye Break Faith).
Library Donations
Members of Operation Legacy donated First World War documentaries and The Canadian Army Newsreels to their local libraries or school libraries.
The documentaries help Canadians learn more about our military heritage and tell lesser-known Canadian stories.
Operation Legacy Bookmarks and Colouring Pages
Many members handed out bookmarks or a Percy "Pass on the Message" colouring page to their class or community group.
The bookmarks highlight the goals of Operation Legacy and feature our mascot, Percy the "Passing on the Message" Pigeon.
The colouring page is a great way to introduce young children to our military heritage by talking about the role of animals in war.

Displays, Presentations and Speeches
Members of Operation Legacy are often invited to schools and display events to talk about The War Amps and their involvement with Operation Legacy. Many members gave speeches, made presentations and hosted displays this year.
One member read the "Act of Remembrance" for veterans and students during Billings Bridge Shopping Centre's Veterans Appreciation Day in Ottawa on November 8.
Interviews
Older members of Operation Legacy were asked questions by the media about the work of Operation Legacy and why it is important that they stay involved. Many articles were published and TV and radio clips were aired!
Wreath Layings
Over 45 members laid wreaths at their local Remembrance Day ceremonies. Members, young and old, participate in wreath layings every year. Our youngest member to lay a wreath in 2011 was one year old!
