PLAYSAFE: Stay Away From Lawn Mowers

The War Amps has seen the consequences of lawn mower accidents all too often. Every year, children who have been seriously injured are enrolled in our Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program. That is why we are launching a public awareness campaign to pass on an essential and possibly life-saving message to kids – that they should never be near lawn mowers.

Neveah, Zoe and Jordan all lost limbs in lawn mower accidents. Now, they share their stories about how their accidents happened and warn other kids to spot the danger before they play. This unique “kid-to-kids” approach to safety awareness is at the root of the PLAYSAFE™ Program. The War Amps believes no one is better qualified to deliver the PLAYSAFE message than child amputees (Champs) who have lost limbs in accidents while at play.

  • Neveah
“I wouldn’t want someone else to get hurt, so now I teach other children to PLAYSAFE!” Neveah
  • Zoe
“Accidents can happen to anyone, anywhere. PLAYSAFE!” Zoe
  • Jordan
“I want to share my story so kids can know what it’s like.” Jordan

When you donate to The War Amps Key Tag Service, you help provide child amputees with the artificial limbs they need to lead active lives.

“I watched your video with my six-year-old. It has made her more aware that accidents can happen, and we need to be safe even while doing everyday things like mowing the lawn. Thank you!” Charlene
