1927-2007

Don Latter

Donald (Don) Latter was born on March 24, 1927, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, and enlisted with the 28th Canadian Armoured Regiment at the age of 16. He served in Belgium, Holland and Germany. In March 1945, he was wounded by .88 mm shell fire during an ambush in Germany, resulting in the loss of his left leg above the knee. He was discharged from service in September of that year.

When Mr. Latter returned home, he joined The War Amps Vancouver Branch and held a number of positions, including:

  • National Director, Vancouver Branch
  • First Vice-President and President, Vancouver Branch
  • Chairman, War Amps Civilian Liaison Program

He was the recipient of The War Amps Distinguished Service Membership, Meritorious Service Membership and Honorary CHAMP Membership.

Mr. Latter passed away on March 9, 2007.
