WATERLOO “CHAMP” TO BE RECOGNIZED BY MAYOR JAWORSKY

June 9, 2016 – Meaghan Sheppard, 19, of Waterloo will be presented with a certificate by Mayor Dave Jaworsky in recognition of her involvement with The War Amps and for spreading important messages in the community.

Meaghan was born a quadruple amputee and is a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program. She has helped spread The War Amps PLAYSAFE message by participating in regional parades and educating children to spot the danger in their neighbourhoods. Meaghan is also educating the public about life as an amputee by giving presentations to schools and hosting displays at local public events. In 2013, Meaghan was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Chancellery of the Governor General.
